The Gush Etzion Winery is located at the Gush Etzion Junction just south of Jerusalem, where climates and soils similar to both Bordeaux and Provence allow owners Shraga and Tamar Rosenberg to craft wines that are at once familiar and unique. The Spring River line comprises a wide range of varietals made into approachable wines that display Gush Etzions versatility. This Cabernet/Merlot is a Bordeaux-style blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Ample fresh berry flavors mingle with complex notes of cedar and wet earth, all supported by a structure of succulent tannins. This wine is an appropriate special choice for a barbecue, or can be reserved to open with a roast game bird, lamb chops with mint sauce, or aged Comté cheese.
