Merlot has adapted well to the soils of Italy's vineyards, most notably in expensive "Super Tuscan" blends. But it is also performing very well in delicious everyday bottlings, such as Quadri Latero Merlot. Soft and opulent, this wine begins with aromas of strawberry and cinnamon, and continues with flavors of raspberry, cigar box, vanilla, and a hint of cocoa. Mellow tannins make this a delicious glass of wine on its own, though it is also perfect for simple red-sauced pasta dishes, barbeques, and paired with hard cheeses.
