The grapes for this wine were harvested from the Ehrhardt block of the Herzog Vineyard. This two acre block of Chenin Blanc grapes are unique for three reasons. First, it receives the utmost care and maintenance throughout the year, especially during harvest. Secondly, the grapes in this block were allowed to ripen to the fullest extent, thereby maximizing sweetness. And thirdly, these grapes were harvested very late in the season to provide a uniquely luscious Late Harvest wine characteristic.
Full-bodied, luscious and sweet, with fruity and floral aromas.
Full flavored beef, chicken, duck, or veal.
Name: Kosher Wino

“Late harvest†means that the grapes were intentionally left on the vine longer than usual and are affected by “noble rot†(botrytis cinerea) that dehydrates the grape and causes the sugar concentration to rise. Late harvest wines are very sweet and typically reserved for dessert.
Straw to light gold in color with honey, apricot, and maple syrup on the nose. Notes of apricot, honey, and candy apple on the palate with a syrupy mouthfeel. Full bodied with a long finish of honey. One of two great dessert wines by Herzog that’s available pretty much anywhere. Cheers!
