Few things excite us more than a great wine value, and so we are always on the lookout for wines that taste like they should cost much more than they do. For the wine lover who gets excited about trying new bottles and saving money in the process, we’ve put together a half case of our best recent discoveries. First, Baron Herzog Chardonnay, a classic California Chardonnay sourced from the Russian River and Central Coast. Binyamina “Yogev” Chardonnay/Sauvignon Blanc combines the richness of Chardonnay with the crisp intensity of Sauvignon Blanc into a memorable Israeli wine. Pair either of these whites with grilled fish, fresh salads in mild dressing, or roasted root vegetables. No less memorable is Dalton Canaan Red, an easy-drinking but surprisingly complex blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz from Israel’s Upper Galilee. Next, Elvi Clasico, a silky fruit-forward Tempranillo from one of Spain’s most historic wineries is a versatile companion to a wide range of dishes. We’ve also included a delectable Bordeaux-style blend in Segal Fusion, crafted by innovative Israeli winemaker Avi Feldstein. Finally, Bartenura Ovadia Estates Chianti expresses the heritage of Italy’s most iconic wine style, while remaining an approachable, easy-drinking treat. These reds are all great at a barbecue, with pizza, or any roasted meats.
