The Chateau Clarke estate, managed by the legendary Baron Rothschild family that has been associated for centuries with Bordeauxs finest wines, has recently come into the spotlight as one of the best producers in the region at its moderate price point. Its Rose, a lilting yet substantial wine, shimmers in your glass with a gorgeous pink color. Aromatically it presents a complex bouquet of citrus and stone fruit, while the palate reveals red berries and a long mineral finish. It is just as perfect in wintertime in front of a roaring fire with an assortment of fine cheeses or Chinese take-out as it is on a summer patio with grilled chicken or seasonal salads.
Fricassee de pulette (braised chicken with mushrooms and peas).
Plum and vanilla character with light lemongrass on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, with good fruit and a fresh, clean finish.
